Our Story

Desham Brings was founded by Adithya Raj, who had been working at an AI startup in Bangalore. The real story began on a long weekend when his mother visited from their native Kerala, bringing a bottle of coconut oil and 1kg of home made banana chips.
That day, his mother was cooking for him. When Adithya noticed her reaching for the new bottle of coconut oil, he said, "Amma, no need to use the new one; there’s already an opened bottle of coconut oil." She agreed, but as Adithya watched TV, he noticed her smelling the opened bottle and setting it aside. She then opened the bottle she had brought and began cooking.
As his mother made the tadka, the aroma and flavor filled the room. When Adithya tasted the food, he realized something profound: the best ingredients are those sourced from the regions where they are known for, prepared in the best way to retain their real flavor and nutrients. He was also very happy to hear about the nutritional facts of coconut oil from his twin sister, who is a PhD scholar in nutritional and dietetic science at Kerala Agricultural University.
However, the real spark for Desham Brings didn’t start there. Remember the other item his mother brought? Yes, the Kerala banana chips. Adithya took that packet to his office and kept it in the pantry. His North Indian colleagues, who are great fans of banana chips, told him, "Yeh toh bahut tasty hai, bhai. Bohot different hai jo humein yahan milta hai usse."
At that moment, Adithya felt a strong conviction: he had to bring these authentic regional products to the rest of India so everyone could experience the same joy. He was internally very happy—another validation of his realization that food products are at their best when sourced from their regional origins and prepared authentically.
Thus began Desham Brings. ‘Desham’ means ‘geographical area,’ and under this name, Adithya aims to build the closest FMCG brand for Indian families by bringing the best products sourced from the places they are known for.
Adithya resigned from his job and returned to his native place, where his sister joined him. They planned to start with coconut oil and did a lot of research regarding its nutritional benefits. They realized that bringing out these qualities was easy if the oil was sourced from the regional place. Their coconut oil is sourced from domestic farmers in tropical areas, ensuring natural flavor and nutrients.
